Time to Stand Up. Time To Speak Out. Time To Vote.

If you are in a coma or one of the Kardashian sisters then maybe you might not know that tomorrow is election day here in the United States.  I think everyone else is pretty up to speed on what is happening. It is important that everyone gets out and votes.  “We The People” need to be heard and one way we do it in this country is by voting.

Sure I have my opinions and in a perfect “Ava’s La La Land” everyone would agree with my ideology as well as my beliefs. But that is not reality. My manager Mr. Bricks tells me on a daily basis I am a whack job.  But I do respect his opinion (and yours), just like I hope he (and you) respect mine.  We can all respectfully disagree on things (as long as the Greek girl gets the last word.)

The one thing I know we all share in common is the right to vote. However, even that hasn’t always been a given in this country.  There was a point early in our country’s history where someone had to stand up and speak out that women deserved equal rights under the law. Those people were led by activists Lucretia Mott and Elizabeth Cady Stanton. Those ladies were the original activists leading the rallying cry in the “Women’s Right to Vote” movement. They started their crusade in 1848. It took almost seven decades for their vision to become a reality. The first American woman to vote, cast her ballot in the presidential elections in 1920.

So, 2010 marks the 90th anniversary of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which gave women in United States the right to vote.  So as you can see, with all of the political rhetoric out there this election, the name calling and head stomping it isn’t the first time, and it won’t be the last time, people of our great country felt the need to stand up and speak out.

That my friends was why I wrote the song called, “We The People.” I have included the lyrics below if you want to sing along with the video! 🙂  No Mr. Bricks, I don’t mean you… step away from the microphone Mr. Bricks. He is tone-deaf on so many levels. One time in the car  on the way to a meeting we were listening to Michael Jackson’s Thriller and out of nowhere Mr. Bricks bust out into his best MJ singing voice, I thought I was going to pee my pants, it was so funny.  That was just one of the moments why I realize he is still single….I’m just sayin’

Ok good news, I will be in Washington DC tomorrow (Tuesday) on Election Day singing the National Anthem at the “Reclaiming The Capitol” rally on the west lawn of the United States Capitol Building at 5:30pm as a historic Don’t Tread on me: Gadsden flag, the American Flag and the Tea Party Patriots banner are planted and “We The People” claim back the US Capitol.

I will also be singing “We The People” and other songs live sometime during the TPP Election Watch Party at the Hyatt Regency on Capitol Hill from 7:00pm – 11:00pm.

Come on down and watch the election coverage with me. There will be two 50″ screens showing the results as well as wi-fi technology so you can twitpic those pictures of you and me back to your jealous friends!! I am so totally kidding about the jealous friends part…if you are there however it would actually be an honor for me to take a picture with you!! Hope to see you there!

Have a great day today…and don’t forget to vote tomorrow!!

Blessings,

Ava  xox

PS. To get you in the mood, here is my song  “We The People”

Enjoy.

“WE THE PEOPLE”    written by Ava Aston

WHAT’S GOING ON
I LOOK AROUND
AND I DON’T RECOGNIZE
THIS PLACE ANYMORE
FOUNDATIONS CRUMBLING DOWN
WHEN ONLY LIES ABOUND
WE CAN NOT AFFORD
TO SIT BACK AND IGNORE

TIME TO STAND UP
TIME TO SPEAK OUT
WE’VE GOT TO FIGHT TO GET IT BACK
GOTTA REACH OUT
GET THE THIEVES OUT
THIS COUNTRY’S OURS
AND WE’RE TAKING IT BACK
WE…. THE PEOPLE

NEVER THOUGHT ID SEE
THESE THINGS BECOME REALITY
BLOOD WAS NEVER SHED
FOR AN APOLOGY
WE KNOW WHAT’S ON THE LINE
FREEDOM – YOUR’S & MINE
AND I JUST WANNA KNOW
WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO….

FOR THE PEOPLE
BY THE PEOPLE
WE’VE GOT TO FIGHT TO GET IT BACK
GOTTA REACH OUT
GET THE THIEVES OUT
THIS COUNTRY’S OURS
AND WE’RE TAKING IT BACK
WE…. THE PEOPLE

DOESN’T ANYBODY NOTICE
AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO SEE’S
THE THINGS THAT THEY’VE BEEN DOING
ARE NOT GOOD FOR YOU AND ME
TOGETHER WE ARE UNITED
TOGETHER WE ARE STRONG
WITH ONE VOICE WE’LL STAND UP AGAINST
EVERYTHING THAT’S WRONG

TIME TO STAND UP
TIME TO SPEAK OUT
WE’VE GOT TO FIGHT TO GET IT BACK
GOTTA REACH OUT
GET THE THIEVES OUT
THIS COUNTRY’S OURS
AND WE’RE TAKING IT BACK
WE…. THE PEOPLE

FOR THE PEOPLE
BY THE PEOPLE
WE’VE GOT TO FIGHT TO GET IT BACK
GOTTA REACH OUT
GET THE THIEVES OUT
THIS COUNTRY’S OURS
AND WE’RE TAKING IT BACK
WE…. THE PEOPLE

TIME TO STAND UP
TIME TO SPEAK OUT
WE’VE GOT TO FIGHT TO GET IT BACK
GOTTA REACH OUT
GET THE THIEVES OUT
THIS COUNTRY’S OURS
AND WE’RE TAKING IT BACK
WE…. THE PEOPLE

    Hi Mommy,
Hee hee hee!!! I hacked into Glama’s computer after she went to work. I am just the smartest canine aren’t I Mommy? I couldn’t miss your blog just cuz we had to come visit Glam while you go sing tomarrow. We miss whole bunches but, staying at Glama’s house is fun…..She gives us lots of love & biscuits……No don’t worry she isn’t giving us any chicken! She hates chicken & knows my sister Pooki can’t have any of that stuff……If she would cook it though I would eat it & Pooki’s share too, cuz she’s allergic & can’t have any. Trick or treating is fun mommy, we stocked up on lots of biscuits. I don’t like dressing up tho’ it is embarrassing this whole “bunny princess” thing has gotta stop!!!!!
Well, gotta run don’t want to get caught on Glama’s computer. Shhhh don’t tell her I was on it.
    Love you mommy,
