Is Fat Tuesday Just an Excuse to Over Eat?

I wonder if this kid could get me a record deal?

For me, my favorite special day of the year is Christmas. It’s a day to celebrate the birth of Our Savior, as well as hopefully get some really neat goodies from under the tree – and there should be lots of loot for me because I am always a good Greek girl – just sayin. Yesterday when I was asking my lazy-eyed manager Mr. Bricks what his favorite day of the year was he said, “Fat Tuesday.”  No shocker there.

Mr. Bricks tells me that the words Mardi Gras mean “Fat Tuesday” in French. And to think I had no idea he was even bilingual. So on one hand I can see why his favorite day of the year is “Fat Tuesday” because Mardi Gras refers to the practice of the last night of eating richer, fatty foods before the ritual fasting for Lent, which begins on Ash Wednesday. But on the other hand I just don’t understand why Mr. Bricks feels the need to celebrate “Fat Tuesday” every day, all year-long. He does this by chowing down on his favorite meal, the McDonald’s McRib.  Ok, after just thinking about a McRib – I think I just threw up a little in the back of my throat.

I can appreciate all of the parades, colorful costumes and even the bead throwing of Mardi Gras – but I don’t think I can ever wrap my Greek noggin around a day named after and that encourages over eating. That just goes against everything I stand for with my healthy life style and healthy eating habits.

After all of this “Fat Tuesday” talk I think I need to go lace up my sneakers and run 5 miles just to make me feel better — but I can’t because I’m still dealing with the latest snow storm that dumped 18 inches of new snow.

Well I hope to enjoy the day anyway and if I see Mr. Bricks walking into an all-you-can-eat buffet today I plan to cut him some slack because it is Fat Tuesday.

Oh I’m so sorry you got more snow!! It’s the pits, isn’t it? We had like a freak storm yesterday, but today all the snow’s gone and it’s sunny. Jeez that kid is really fat! Even though I do like food, (though I’ve lost 12 lbs since my surgery – – I didn’t have it to lose!!), I’d have to pass of Fat Tuesday. That’s just disgusting. I think you’re wearing off on me, Ava!! hehe 😀
